The new fiscal year starts July 1. Whether you are a new or returning chapter officer, thank you for your volunteerism and continued partnership!
Please set up your incoming leadership teams for success through the following steps. Remember that it’s OK if the current board decides to stay on for another year or your chapter appoints your leaders versus holding an election this year due to the pandemic.
- Update your chapter database with the names of your officers for the new fiscal year.
- Hold your chapter officer transition meeting to ensure the new board is acquainted with their roles. Also, all officers should complete the Chapter Board Contract.
- Review your Chapter Charter Agreement. As a reminder, the current charter cycle has been extended through June 2022 at no cost to chapters.
- Review the Chapter Governance Manual.
- Review your chapter’s strategic plan, and update it as needed.
- Read Chapters 101 to prepare for the year. It’s an excellent refresher for returning officers, too.
The chapter advisory team and chapter home office staff are ready to assist you in any way we can.

- AACN board members and staff continue to be available via virtual meeting platforms through Sept. 30, 2021.

New Chapter Advisory Team Announcement
In last month’s Chapter Update we shared the changes to the Chapter Advisory Team as of July 1, the new fiscal year. Since then, President-elect Beth Wathen has appointed AACN board member John Gallagher as the team’s board liaison. John’s primary responsibility, in addition to advising us, will be to ensure that what we do is within the organization’s strategic plan. Welcome to the Chapter Advisory Team, John!
